Project Description
The transition from Insite to Shopify aimed to reduce costs and streamline the design and development process. Working closely with the Marketing and Product Management teams, we successfully migrated over 3,000 at products while enhancing the interface and user experience to better serve customers.
Problem
The previous Insite eCommerce platform required extensive coding for updates, lacked flexibility, and was costly to maintain. Additionally, the shopping experience was not optimized for resellers and end customers.
Solution
By migrating to Shopify, we introduced a more scalable and cost-effective platform while implementing key improvements:
Improved Shopping Experience: Introducing a new accessories bundle system using a bundling app, ensuring each accessory was correctly linked to its main product via unique product IDs.
Real-Time Reseller Stock Updates: Designing a feature that displays and refreshes reseller quantities automatically by product SKU, using custom objects assigned to each SKU.
Exclusive B2B Portal: Developed a secure portal with five distinct landing pages, granting Norsat partners access to exclusive content and resources.
Final Deliverable
This project successfully improved operational efficiency, enhanced the customer shopping experience, and optimized the company's digital presence. We received positive feedbacks from many resellers.
Customizable Product Variants
Users can easily choose from multiple variants such as frequency range, optional add-ons, and other configurations, with real-time updates reflecting their selection. This feature leverages Shopify's native functionality to streamline the process.
It resolves the issue the previous website had of cluttering the store with too many individual product pages, consolidating options into fewer, more manageable product pages. This enhances product visibility, simplifies configuration choices, and ultimately provides a smoother and more intuitive user experience.

New Collection Layout
Using Shopify's available apps, I enhanced the store's search and filter functionality with AI-powered smart search, delivering fast, intuitive, and personalized results for customers. The apps’ customizable features allow for easy filtering based on product attributes without any coding.
This optimization improves the overall shopping experience, leading to more accurate product discovery, higher conversion rates, and better customer satisfaction.

Dynamic Features
Implemented a dynamic feature, in collaboration with a Shopify developer, that displays and automatically updates reseller inventory based on product SKU availability. This was achieved by assigning custom objects to each SKU, ensuring real-time accuracy and improved stock visibility.
B2B Partner Portal
Developed a partner-exclusive customer portal with five dedicated landing pages, providing Norsat’s partners with streamlined access to exclusive content and resources.

Bundling System Feature
Improved Shopping Experience: Introduced a new accessories bundle system using a bundling app, ensuring each accessory was correctly linked to its main product via unique product IDs, I ensured accurate pairing of accessories with their corresponding products, creating a seamless and intuitive purchasing process.
